Join the Big Screen Portsmouth on Saturday 10 September for the world-famous finale of the BBC Proms for 2016, live from the Royal Albert Hall in London. Sakari Oramo leads the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Singers and BBC Symphony Chorus plus the BBC Proms Youth Ensemble.
Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez makes his first appearance at the Proms since 2006. 16 young singers take to the stage to perform Vaughan Williams’s Serenade to Music.
Opening with the world premiere of past BBC Proms Inspire winner Tom Harrold’s BBC commission Raze, the night’s festivities feature the music of Butterworth, Borodin, Rossini, Donizetti, Offenbach, Britten, Jonathan Dove and Vaughan Williams before closing with the traditional Last Night pieces, this year marking 100 years since the composition of Parry’s Jerusalem.
The event will be beamed onto the Big Screen Portsmouth from 7pm with limited complimentary seating being provided by the Portsmouth City Council Events Team. Bring a picnic, pull up a chair and prepare the flags for this spectacular evening!
