Guildhall Square played host to the triumphant spectacle on Saturday, 6 August 2016 afternoon which saw The Royal Navy and Royal Marine's Band Service performed their world famous, Beating Retreat.
Under the direction of WO1 R Hunt RM Bandmaster and led by Drum Major S Vyse RM, the erformance saw music like, "Heroic Fanfare", "Trafalgar", Disney's Planes", "Rule Britannia" and the "National Anthem" performed before the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Cllr David Fuller (pictured below).
The Big Screen Portsmouth was used to display video messages and images to promote the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity as well as a track listing of the music that was to be performed.
Guildhall Square was closed off to the public to allow for the marching band space to perform. Hundreds were in attendance to watch the event.
The sun beamed off the musical instruments adding a special touch to the spectacular show.
