  • Big Screen Portsmouth (map)

This event has now finished. The Royal Opera free screenings will return in 2018.

Join the Big Screen Portsmouth for the second of three live BP Big Screens Royal Opera events. Beaming to the Big Screen live form London, we have a fantastic array of entertainment for you to enjoy this summer for free in Guildhall Square.

Verdi’s best loved opera returns this summer for the BP Big Screens experience, in one of The Royal Opera’s most popular productions. La Traviata’s story of a beautiful Parisian courtesan prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for love is told through thrilling ensembles and choruses, impassioned duets and stunningly beautiful lyrical arias – and performed by a wonderful young cast and our great Royal Opera Chorus and Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. Be prepared for an evening of visual and musical beauty and profound emotion.

Portsmouth City Council will be providing limited seating that will be made available to you on a first-come first-serve basis. So, bring a picnic and celebrate this fantastic summer series of live opera events!
